Bouquet of Love
When a loved one is having a hard time, it can be tough to reach out if you live far away. Possibly nothing beats the ability to just sit together and listen or share a meal. But when that isn't possible, small gestures through the mail can go a long way. My best friend recently brought a huge smile to my face when she sent these bright, happy flowers in the wake of a tough month. It is not a gesture I would have thought to make, but having experienced the small joy that these blooms brought, I will definitely be sending a bouquet to other loved ones going through rough patches.
I think it is safe to say we are all going through a rough patch right now. Both abroad and here in the U.S., violence has pervaded 2016. All of these attacks bring great sorrow and empathy, and here at home we want to offer extra love and support to both our Black communities and our law enforcement communities. We will be discussing these issues at length, especially voicing our support for the Black Lives Matter movement. We'll host perspective pieces and links to resources that will hopefully help our community become more informed and vocal (in that order) participants in the tough discussions we need to be having. Until then, we're sending a virtual bouquet of love out to all.
